*School Day – Our school day begins at 8:00 A.M. Please make sure that your child arrives on time so that they do not miss any important instruction. Our school day ends at 3:30 P.M. Please refrain from picking up your child early whenever possible but if it is necessary, please contact the office.
NOTE: Students will not be released from the office after 3:20 p.m.; regular dismissal procedures will be followed. Also, please avoid parking in circle drive during dismissal as well.
*Cell Phones - During drop-off and pick-up times, please refrain from using your cell phone. It creates a distraction and unsafe conditions for all!!
*Parent Volunteers - We welcome all volunteers who would like to participate in our classroom.  Volunteers are needed to plan and carry out celebrations. If you are interested, please let us know. Thank you for your support!
*Green School - This year we are going to continue with being “Green”, therefore our school/classroom newsletters and calendars will not be sent home in hard copy form. The school website, www.mtclemensmontessori.com contains some important information including school newsletter and yearly/monthly calendars. While browsing the school website remember to sign-up for our “Newsletters and School Closing Alerts” email service. All newsletters, school closings, and important announcements will come to you automatically, via email to your inbox.
*Homework - You will find homework in the “To Be Completed” section of your child’s Super H. E. R. O (Having Everything Ready& Organized) Binder. When homework is completed, place it into the “To Be Turned In” section of the binder.
*Word Study - Students will be required to complete 30 points on the Spelling Activity Contract that will be given to them  every other Friday and will be handed in the following Thursday morning.
*Absent Work - When a student is absent their work will be placed on their desk as it is handed out. Students will be given one day for each day absent to turn in the missed work. Students are expected to turn in work that was due prior to their absences upon their first day back. Anything turned in after the expected due date will be considered missing/late work.
*Student Planner/Super H.E.R.O. Binder – Each student will be issued a student planner book. Planners will be placed inside a binder. This will be filled out daily by the students, stating what was worked on in each subject, and whether extra homework was assigned. Anything that is homework will be highlighted. Planners must be signed by a parent or guardian EVERYDAY.
** Please make sure homework is completed before signing*
*Snack – Please ensure that your child packs a nutritious snack each day. For example, cheese and crackers, fruit, bagels, etc. Our snack time daily will be around 10:00 a.m. We will have lunch at 12:15 followed by recess at 12:45. Please do not send in pop, candy, or other foods high in sugar. If your child forgets a healthy snack, a small one will be provided.
*Birthdays - You are welcome to send in a healthy treat for your child’s birthday.  Please let us know ahead of time to let us know when we’ll be celebrating.  We have 32 students in the class.  If your child has a summer birthday, we can celebrate on his/her half birthday (a July 10th birthday could be celebrated on January 10th), or they can celebrate it toward the end of the school year.  Please notify us if, for any reason, you do not want your child to participate in birthday celebrations at school.
*Bagel Day - Bagel day will be every Thursday.  Students may purchase a bagel for $1.00 to eat during snack time.
               C. H. A. M. P. S.
This is a classroom management technique which stands for Conversation, Help, Activity, Movement, Participation, and Success. During the day, before each and every activity, this chart will display the expectations for each child to follow. These will be changed throughout the day according to the schedule.
               Discipline Policy
Clip Chart - We will be using a clip chart behavior system. Students will be moving their behavior clips for positive and/or unsatisfactory behavior. Students have the opportunity to move their clips throughout the day, depending on the choices they make. With the Teacher’s Choice option, we will determine what would be the best option for them (miss five minutes recess, office time, etc.). If a child moves their clip to Parent Contact, you will be contacted by phone, note home (signature required) or email.
Bragging Rights - Students who have reached the “Outstanding” clip placement will receive a “charm” (small piece of paper with positive encouragement) to be placed on their bragging necklace. Students will collect as many as they can and at the end of the year will be sent home to keep.
Good Behavior - If your child has gone above and beyond in regards to behavior and participation, a call home will be made to acknowledge a job well done
*Classroom Jobs - Every week, students will be given a classroom job to complete on a daily basis. This will help maintain a clean and safe environment for learning. Each week, students will rotate jobs.
